It includes battery management, and multiple wireless radio comms and sleep / wake options. 35 MHz sample rate. Design-optimized for production and low cost at volume.

“RS8” (HDL-0108-RSCPT) is a USB, high data rate, rapid channel scan instrument, with real-time control that does not interrupt data flow during scanning. Transmit gain (pulse voltage) is controllable in smaller steps and more linearly. Standard operations include single channel PAC, 8-channel single sweep, continuous single channel, continuous 8-channel sweep. 40 MHz sample rate default. Configuration options include custom channel scans and high sample rate (up to 100 MHz or more).

Type II = Combinatorial for stationary applications

Default/OTS/As-Shipped Info

RS8

RS104

DL0100A1

Use-Case Example

bench or non-I/S scans + R&D

I/S scanner – match legacy # XD channels

long-term remote low power monitoring

Channels

8

4

8

WFs/sec

128 (16 Hz each channel / full channel set)

~36 (9 Hz each channel / full channel set)

~1 (0.13 Hz single channel)

WF Sample Rate [MHz]

40

40

35

WF Length (# samples)

4095

4095

2500

Comms Interface

USB

RS485<=>USB

Anything serializable: Cellular, Bluetooth, Serial, USB-Serial, Radio like 802.15.4 incl LoRa, ZigBee, etc

# comms channels/ports

2: data (async 245 style FIFO) | control (serial)

2: both RS485:

1: single

control baud nominal

57600

57600

57600

data baud max or nominal

5-6Mbps nom.

2Mbps nom. for 350-ft cable

1-2+ Mbps max direct USB serial, 230k max radio or GW

data rate

4-5 Mbps

1.2+ Mbps

80% of baud rate

Cabling/Wiring

USB

4x STP: 1 PR Power, 1 PR Ground, 1 PR Control, 1 PR Data

Wireless / depends on comm choice

Pulse Characteristics
(See Note 1 below)

(Type I)

(Type I)

(Type II) Combinatorial

Power Mgmt

Always on

By host I/S system typically

Inherent multi-option low power / power control auto, incl synch and or RTC sleep/wake

Power

USB only or external 5-6VDC

15VDC nominal, supplied by I/S supply typically

6VDC nominal, Power-over-Ethernet

Please note: Many customizations of behavior are possible, either through firmware updates or assembly variants, or even hardware revisions.
